Okay, so the other day, I was watching some college hoops and saw this kid, Sam Hoiberg, playing for Nebraska. The name rang a bell, and I was like, “Wait a minute, is this guy related to Fred Hoiberg, the former NBA player and coach?” I mean, the last name’s pretty unique, right?
So, I grabbed my phone and started digging. My first stop, as always, was just a simple Google search. I typed in “Sam Hoiberg Fred Hoiberg related” and boom, tons of articles popped up.
My Little Research Journey
Turns out, I wasn’t the only one wondering about this! There were a bunch of sports news sites and blogs talking about it. Most were just confirming that, yeah, Sam is Fred’s son.
- I skimmed through a couple of articles, just to make sure I wasn’t getting bad info.
- Then I checked out Sam’s player profile on the Nebraska athletics website.
- It listed Fred as his dad, plain as day. Case closed, right?
But I am me, I went a bit further down the rabbit hole. I found some older articles talking about Sam when he was still in high school, playing at Lincoln Pius X. Apparently, he switched schools a couple of times, and there was even some chatter about him maybe playing for his dad at Iowa State at one point.
I have to say, finding out simple “yes” was pretty easy!
