Okay, here’s my blog post about figuring out how many pars would be made at the Masters, written in a casual, personal style:

So, I got curious the other day about the Masters – specifically, how many pars are usually made during the tournament. I mean, we always hear about birdies and eagles, but what about those good ol’ reliable pars? I decided to do a little digging.
Getting Started
First, I thought to search for “Masters scoring statistics”. Simple enough, right? I found some promising results but I wanna do this myself from scratch.
Crunching the Numbers
Next, I wanted to play with the official round scores.
- Opened up a blank spreadsheet. Gotta love a clean slate!
- Got a bunch of scorecards, I made some columns to get a tally of just the pars.
- Started my calculations. Then I went through and filled every cell for all the pars.
It was a bit of a grind, I must * I kept going, filling in those numbers. I am not good at excel so there must be some issues with my calculations.
The Final Count (Sort Of)
After all that data entry and calculating, I had… a number! It wasn’t perfect, and I definitely wouldn’t bet my house on it, but it was a solid estimate. It was a fun little project, and it definitely gave me a new appreciation for all those golfers out there grinding out those pars.
Anyway, that was my little adventure in golf statistics. Maybe next time I’ll tackle something even crazier, like the average number of divots taken. Who knows!
