Alright, so I’ve been diving deep into MLB The Show 23 lately, and man, the hitting can be a real beast. I started out thinking I was hot stuff, cranking homers left and right in the lower difficulties. But then, I decided to bump it up a notch, and… ouch. My ego took a major hit, along with my batting average.

My First Steps (and Stumbles)
Initially, I was playing on Rookie, maybe Veteran, and feeling pretty good. Swinging for the fences every time, making decent contact. I thought, “Hey, I’m getting the hang of this!” So, naturally, I got cocky and bumped up the difficulty to All-Star.
Big mistake.
The All-Star Wall
Suddenly, those fastballs that looked like beach balls were whizzing by me. My timing was all messed up, I was swinging at everything, and striking out like it was my job. It was frustrating, to say the least. I went from feeling like a future Hall of Famer to a minor leaguer struggling to make contact.
- Timing is Everything: It’s all about anticipation, and adjusting the timing.
- Swing Earlier:I had to start my swing way earlier than I was used to.
- Be Patient:I had to learn to be more selective and wait for a pitch I could handle.
Finding My Groove (Eventually)
So, I humbled myself and started practicing, working on recognizing pitches and adjusting my timing, and swinging earlier.
Eventually,I started to see some improvement. I wasn’t mashing homers every at-bat, but I was making more consistent contact, getting on base, and even driving in some *’s a slow process, but it’s definitely rewarding when you finally start to see those hits drop in.
Still Learning
I’m still nowhere near perfect, and the higher difficulties still kick my butt sometimes. But, that’s part of the fun, right? It’s a challenge, and overcoming those challenges is what makes the game so satisfying. I’m still tweaking my approach, experimenting with different batting stances and camera angles, and just trying to get better every time I play.
So, if you’re struggling with hitting in MLB The Show 23, don’t give up! Keep practicing, keep experimenting, and you’ll eventually start to see those hits fall in. And if you have any tips, feel free to share – I’m always looking to learn and get better!
