Okay, so I’ve been messing around with trying to predict sports results. It’s kinda like a fun little side project, nothing serious. Today, I decided to focus on something called “blinkova prediction.” Honestly, I picked it mostly at random, because I saw the name and thought it sounded cool.

First, I needed to figure out what I was even dealing with. I did some searching and realized it’s about predicting Anna Blinkova’s tennis matches, I think? Yeah, that must be it. Tennis! Okay, I don’t know much about professional tennis, so this was gonna be interesting.
I started by just looking at her past matches. You know, wins, losses, who she played against, the scores… all that basic stuff. I just opened up a notepad file and started jotting down whatever seemed potentially relevant. It wasn’t anything fancy, just a big messy list of information.
My super-scientific process (not really):
- Gather some data: Looked at recent match results. Lots of scrolling and clicking!
- Look for patterns: Did she win more on certain court types? Did she struggle against certain opponents? My eyes started to glaze over at this point.
- Make a wild guess: Based on absolutely nothing concrete, I picked a winner for her next hypothetical match.
The “Prediction”
After staring at my notes for, like, an hour, I decided to just go with my gut. My gut, informed by a very small amount of randomly collected data, said… she’s gonna win her next match! I don’t know who she’s playing, I don’t know where, I don’t know when, but that’s my prediction. Blinkova for the win!
Will I be right? Probably not. But it was kinda fun to pretend I knew what I was doing for a little while. Maybe I’ll try this again with another player, or maybe I’ll just go back to watching cat videos. Who knows!
