Okay, so I’ve been diving deep into MLB The Show lately, and I gotta talk about something that’s been bugging me – the cheaters. I mean, seriously, it ruins the fun for everyone else. I wanted to see what, if anything, I could do about it myself, and document my little experiment.

My Little Experiment Begins
First, I jumped into some online games, just regular ranked seasons, to see how often I’d run into these guys. It didn’t take long. Within a few games, I faced a player who was hitting home runs on pitches that were, like, a foot off the plate. Clearly, something fishy was going on.
The Observation Phase
So, I started paying closer attention. I noticed a few things that seemed to be common among suspected cheaters:
- Crazy contact: They’d swing at anything, even the worst pitches, and still make perfect contact.
- Unrealistic power: Routine fly balls were turning into 500-foot bombs.
- Weird pitching: Some guys seemed to have pinpoint control with every pitch, no matter the location or the pitcher’s actual skill.
Digging Deeper(Failed!)
I tried to do some research online. I figured there must be forums or communities talking about this, maybe even sharing tools or methods. I mostly found a bunch of people complaining, but nothing concrete. Some say it is server problem, but I don’t belive it.
The Reporting Game
Since I couldn’t find a magic “anti-cheat” button, I decided to focus on what I could control: reporting. Every time I suspected someone of cheating, I made sure to report them through the in-game system. It’s not much, but it’s something.
I also started recording my games. My thought was, if I could capture clear evidence of cheating, maybe the developers would take it more seriously. I used the built-in recording features on my console, which was pretty easy to do. Just press the button to record the past few minutes of gameplay.
Did it do something?
Honestly, it’s hard to say if my reporting and recording made any real difference. I haven’t seen a sudden drop in cheaters or anything. But I do feel a little better knowing that I’m at least trying to do something about it. It’s frustrating, but I’m not going to let a few bad apples ruin the game for me.
My main takeaway? Just play the game, have fun, and if you see something suspicious, report it. That’s all we can really do for now. And maybe, just maybe, if enough of us do it, things will eventually improve.
