Okay, so today I was digging around for some info on Freddie Steinmark, that legendary Texas Longhorns football player. You know, the guy from the movie “My All-American”? Anyway, I really wanted to find out more about his personal life, especially his wife.

I started with a simple search. Nothing fancy, just typed in “Freddie Steinmark wife.”
My Research Journey
First Try: Basic Search
My initial search brought up a bunch of articles about Freddie, his football career, and his battle with cancer. Lots of stuff about the 1969 National Championship game, but not much on his wife.
Second Try: Adding Keywords
So, I got a little smarter. I refined my search to “Freddie Steinmark wife Linda Wheeler.” I figured knowing her name might help narrow things down.
- I saw some mentions of Linda, but mostly in the context of Freddie’s story. It was more about their relationship before he got sick. Like, high school sweethearts and all that.
- Found some photos, you know, the usual young couple stuff. Looked like they were really happy. Made it all even sadder, really.
Third Try: Looking for Interviews or Articles Specifically about Her
Okay, this is where it got tricky. I tried searching for interviews with Linda, or articles specifically about her life after Freddie. I used search terms “Linda Wheeler interview,” “Linda Wheeler Steinmark after 1971,”. This didn’t get me much.
What I figured out..

It seems like Linda has mostly stayed out of the spotlight. Which, you know, totally understandable. It’s her life, and she has every right to her privacy. Even though I was super curious, I gotta respect that.
I learned from some old forum posts. Apparently they weren’t technically married wife, but they were engaged before Freddie Steinmark past away, so I think it is reasonable to search Freddie Steinmark wife.
It’s kind of a reminder that not everything is out there on the internet. Some stories are just…personal. And that’s okay.
