Alright, so the other day I was down a rabbit hole trying to find some old clips of Shane Gillis, and I stumbled upon this whole thing about him playing football. I knew he was a comedian, but I had no idea about his football past. So, I decided to dig in and see what I could find.
The Initial Search
First, I just did a simple search for “shane gillis football”. I figured that would give me a broad overview. Man, the results were all over the place – some old articles, a few mentions on forums, and even a couple of YouTube videos.
Narrowing it Down
I quickly realized I needed to be more specific. So, I started adding terms like “high school” and “college” to my searches. This helped a bit. I started finding stuff about him playing at West Chester East High School. Apparently, he was pretty good! I saw some mentions of him being an offensive lineman.
Digging Through Articles
I spent a good chunk of time reading through some old local newspaper articles. It’s kind of cool seeing how people talked about him back then, before he was famous for comedy. They were focused on his size and how he played the game. I also saw a thing said he played tight end in high school, and was 6’2,250 pounds
YouTube Deep Dive
Then I moved to the king of all platform,YouTube.
- I found a random podcast, and they are taking about * hosts are saying that Shane wasn’t just some scrub, he was actually a decent player!
- And another clip, Shane was talking to another comedian about those football days.
Putting it All Together
After a couple of hours of searching and reading, and watching, I felt like I had a pretty good handle on Shane Gillis’s football history. He was a solid high school player, it seems he was the real deal, and played some ball at a smaller college. It’s kind of wild to think about him doing that, and now he’s this super successful comedian. Funny how life works, right?
