Alright, fellow Tarnished, let’s talk about those Walking Mausoleums in Elden Ring. I spent a good chunk of my weekend figuring these bad boys out, so I figured I’d share my notes and save you some headache.
Finding the Mausoleums
First off, you gotta find them. They’re these HUGE, lumbering, bell-ringing stone turtles. Can’t really miss ’em, honestly. But knowing where to look is the trick.
- Weeping Peninsula: I stumbled upon my first one just south of the Fourth Church of Marika. It was pretty much out in the open, roaming around a field. Easy peasy.
- Liurnia of the Lakes: This area has a few. I found one near the Raya Lucaria Crystal Tunnel, wandering in the shallows. Another one was hanging out by the Mausoleum Compound site of grace.
- Deeproot Depths: Okay, this one was a PAIN. It’s near the Nameless Eternal City site of grace, but you gotta do some serious platforming to reach it. And those flying ants? Don’t get me started.
- Consecrated Snowfield: I found one in the western part, but you’ll need to deal with those annoying giant archers. Honestly, I just sprinted past them.
- Mountaintops of the Giants: Finally,I met one near the Apostate Derelict, it is easy to get.
Getting Them Down
So, you’ve found one. Now what? You can’t just walk up and knock. You gotta get rid of those skull barnacles growing on its legs (or sometimes around the mausoleum itself). I found that a good, heavy weapon works best. Jump attacks were my go-to. Just whack away at those glowing skulls until they break off.
Be * is easy to be crush under the legs.
- Important tip: Watch out for the mausoleum’s stomps! They’ll flatten you if you’re not careful. I learned that the hard way… a few times.
Some of them are jumpable. It need use the Torrent and nearby Spritspring. I found it is so amazing when I jump on it.
Duplicating Remembrances
Once the mausoleum is down, you can go inside and duplicate a Remembrance. This is awesome because it lets you get BOTH rewards from a single boss. Want that sweet sword and the incantation? Duplicate the Remembrance! I used this to get both of Godrick’s items. Totally worth it.
- Heads up:You can only duplicate each Remembrance ONCE per playthrough. So choose wisely!
- Another thing: Some mausoleums only duplicate certain Remembrances. The ones without bells, from what I could tell, only work for the lesser bosses. The ones with bells can duplicate any Remembrance.
