Okay, so I was bored today and I thought, why not try to make a crossword puzzle? And because I love sharks, I decided to go with a “shark” theme. Here’s how it went down.

Brainstorming and Planning
First, I grabbed a piece of paper and a pencil – yeah, I’m old school like that. I started jotting down all the shark-related words I could think of. You know, like “fin,” “gills,” “teeth,” “ocean,” stuff like that. I aimed for a mix of easy and slightly harder words to make it interesting.
Grid Design
Next up was the grid. This was tricky! I sketched out a few different grid patterns on my paper, trying to fit the words together. It’s like a jigsaw puzzle, but with words. I erased a lot, let me tell you. I wanted to make sure it looked like a proper crossword, not just a bunch of words randomly placed.
- Started with a basic square grid.
- Tried to interlock longer words first.
- Filled in the shorter words around them.
Clue Creation
Writing the clues was actually kinda fun. I tried to be a little clever with them, not too obvious, but not impossible either. I used some simple definitions, and for some words, I went with more riddle-like clues.
Putting It All Together
After I had my words, grid, and clues,I drew a crossword in my notebook, and then write clues below,It took a lot of trial and error to fill in, and finally, the crossword puzzle was completed.
It’s not perfect, it’s handwritten, after all, but I’m pretty happy with how it turned out! It was a fun little project to kill some time and get my brain working. Maybe I’ll try making another one with a different theme next time. Any suggestions?
