Okay, so, the other day I was messing around with my hair, and I got to thinking, “Can I even pull off those ‘quarterback strands’ everyone’s talking about?” You know, those face-framing pieces that are supposed to, like, magically make you look all cool and sporty? I decided to give it a shot.

The Experiment Begins
First, I grabbed my phone and started searching for some examples. I scrolled through tons of pictures, trying to figure out exactly what I was going for. Some looked super subtle, others were way more dramatic. I decided to aim for something in the middle.
Then, I stood in front of the mirror and started separating out some strands of hair around my face. I used my fingers, mostly, because I didn’t want anything too precise. I just wanted it to look natural, you know?
- Pulled out a few strands on each side.
- Made sure they weren’t too thick or too thin.
- Tried to keep them roughly the same length.
Next, I got my trusty flat iron (because my hair is naturally kind of wavy and unruly). I clamped down on each strand, just for a few seconds, to give them a little bit of a bend. I didn’t want them stick-straight, but I also didn’t want full-on curls.
The (Slightly Uneven) Results
After I finished with the flat iron, I took a step back and assessed the situation. Honestly? It wasn’t perfect. One side was definitely a little more… pronounced than the other. But, hey, that’s kind of the point, right? It’s supposed to look effortless.
I played around with them a bit more, tucking some bits behind my ears, letting others fall forward. I even spritzed a tiny bit of hairspray to keep them in place (but not too much, because crunchy hair is not the vibe).
Overall, I’d say it was a success! It wasn’t exactly like the pictures I saw, but it definitely gave my hair a little something extra. It’s a super easy way to change things up without doing anything drastic. Would I do it again? Yeah, probably. Maybe next time I’ll try to get them a little more even, but for a first attempt, I’m pretty happy with it!
