Okay, so I’ve been diving deep into Captain Tsubasa: Ace lately, and man, figuring out which players are actually good is a whole thing. I decided to make my own tier list, mostly for myself, but I figured, why not share the struggle and the results, right?

First, I jumped into a bunch of online matches. Just played and played, trying out different formations and players. I got destroyed a lot, I’m not gonna lie. It was rough. Some players, even the ones that looked cool, just felt… useless. Others surprised me with how well they performed.
Then, I started to pay real close attention. I noted down which players consistently scored goals, made crucial interceptions, or just generally dominated the field. I used a simple notebook at first, just jotting down names and quick impressions after each match. Like, “Tsubasa? Always good. Hyuga? Beast mode when he’s in the zone.” Stuff like that.
Next, I did a bit more, and watched some high-level gameplay videos. I watched these guys and it helped me notice the subtle things. What I’m saying is, these players weren’t just randomly button-mashing; they had strategies.
After that, I started organizing my notes. I created a simple spreadsheet – nothing fancy. I grouped players by their positions (forward, midfielder, defender, goalkeeper) and then started giving them rough grades, like “S” for the absolute best, “A” for really good, “B” for decent, and so on. I find that simple organization can make a big difference.
I had way too much internal debates with myself! For example, I initially put Misugi in ‘A’ tier because he’s such a technical player, but after getting wrecked by him a few more times, I was like, “Nope, he’s S-tier, no question.”
Here’s a glimpse of what I roughly came up with (It’s not perfect, and it’s definitely subjective!):
- S-Tier: Tsubasa, Hyuga, Misugi, Schneider, Natureza (these guys are just monsters)
- A-Tier: Misaki, Diaz, Pierre, Santana, Wakabayashi (amazing players, just a slight step below S)
- B-Tier: A bunch of others that are solid, but not game-changers on their own.
- C-Tier and Below: The ones I haven’t quite figured out or that just seem underpowered.
Finally, I compared my list with some others I found online. There were some similarities, some differences. It’s interesting to see how other people rate the players. It showed me, everyone’s got their own playstyle and preferences, so tier lists are always going to be a bit personal.
The important thing is, I finally have a tier list that makes sense to me. It’s still a work in progress, and I’ll probably keep tweaking it as I play more, but it’s a solid starting point. And hey, if this helps even one other person figure out who to focus on in Captain Tsubasa: Ace, then sharing all this was worth it.
