Okay, so I saw this “olympic powerhouse crossword nyt” thing trending and figured, why not? I’ve always been a bit of a word nerd, and the Olympics are, well, the Olympics. I’m a huge fan, and I’m in! Let’s do this!

First, I navigated to the NYT crossword page. I usually do the mini crossword, but I felt ready to tackle the main puzzle, I gotta say that I’m really excited!
I started by scanning the clues. Lots of Olympics-related stuff, obviously. Some were pretty straightforward, like names of sports or famous athletes. I filled those in quickly, feeling pretty good about myself. Hah!
Then came the tricky ones. You know, the ones that make you think, “Wait, what?” There were a few clues that referenced specific Olympic events or historical moments that I wasn’t super familiar with.
- I paused the crossword.
- I opened a new tab and did some quick searching.
- Found some helpful articles and Wikipedia pages.
I learned a few new things! Who knew there were so many obscure Olympic sports throughout history? It’s always exciting to see something new.
Armed with my newfound knowledge, I went back to the crossword and tackled those tougher clues. It was still challenging, but I felt like I had a fighting chance. I spent about an hour on the puzzle, with many stops and starts and I did it!
Slowly but surely, I started filling in more and more of the grid. The feeling of getting a particularly tough word is so satisfying, seriously. It’s like a little mental victory dance.
The Result!
I actually finished it! It took me a while (don’t ask how long, ha!), but I got there in the end. I definitely learned a few things along the way, both about the Olympics and about my own crossword-solving abilities.
I’d say it’s a fun way to combine my two favorites: puzzles and * you’re looking for a little mental workout, you should give this a try!
