Okay, so today I decided to tackle this “plan part crossword” thing. It sounded intriguing, like a puzzle within a puzzle. Here’s how it went down.

Getting Started
First, I had to figure out what the heck it even was. It’s basically taking a larger crossword puzzle and creating a plan or blueprint for only a section of it. Instead of solving, you are creating.
The Process
- Chose My Section: I decided to focus on, like, the top-right corner of the hypothetical crossword grid. No real reason, just seemed like a good place to start.
- Brainstormed Words: I thought to focus on a simple theme. With that, I just started jotting down words, keeping in mind how they might intersect with each other.
- Grid Work: Then came the tricky part. I sketched out a small grid and started fitting the words in, making sure they all connected properly. Lots of erasing at this point! I made some words fit, and I had to let go.
- Clue Crafting: Once I had the words in place, I started writing clues. This was actually kind of fun, trying to be clever without making it too difficult. Or too easy.
My “Plan Part” Creation
It’s not perfect, but here’s a rough idea of what I ended up with:
Across
- 3. Small amount (4 letters)
- 4. Help (3 letters)
Down
- 1. Male child (3 letters)
- 2. Opposite of yes (2 letters)
Final Thoughts
This was a neat little exercise! It definitely made me appreciate the work that goes into creating full crosswords. I think I’ll be doing that again some time, I had fun!
