Okay, so today I decided to tackle a “Bulldog Features” crossword. I’ve always loved a good word puzzle, and I figured, why not? I’m no expert, but I enjoy the challenge.

First, I printed out the crossword. I like having it on paper, so I can scribble and erase to my heart’s content. Digital is fine, but there’s something satisfying about using a real pen.
I started by scanning the clues, looking for the easy ones – you know, the ones that jump right out at you. Anything super short, like three or four letters, was my first target. Fill in a few of those, and you start to get some crossing letters to work with.
I got a few of the shorter clues. I don’t want to say it all, it is not interesting. I used a pencil, of course, because I knew I’d be making mistakes. I always do! And sure enough, a few clues that I thought I had nailed turned out to be wrong later on.
The Tough Part
- I hit a wall about halfway through. There were some clues that were just… baffling. Bulldog features? I mean, I know what a bulldog looks like, but some of these clues were worded in a tricky way.
- I took a break. Seriously, sometimes you just need to step away for a bit. I went and made a cup of coffee, cleared my head.
- When I came back, I tried a different approach. Instead of going in order, I focused on the clues that had the most crossing letters already filled in. That helped me narrow down the possibilities.
Finally. I managed to finish it! It wasn’t pretty – lots of erasing and rewriting – but I got there. It’s a good feeling, solving a tough puzzle.
My main takeaway? Patience is key. And don’t be afraid to guess and be wrong. That’s what the eraser is for!
