Okay, so I’ve been trying to get a handle on this whole sports prediction thing, and I figured I’d start with something I kinda sorta follow – basketball. Today’s experiment: Kings vs. Cavs. I’m no expert, just trying to see if I can figure this stuff out, I am sharing what I tried today.

My “Process” (and I Use That Term Loosely)
First, I opened my browser. I just used Google, ’cause it’s what I always use.
I typed in “Kings Cavs stats” and a whole bunch of stuff popped up. Honestly, it was a little overwhelming.
- So many numbers!
- Lots of websites I’d never heard of.
- Confusing charts and graphs.
I clicked on a couple of the top results. Some of them had season averages, player stats, recent game scores – you name it. My head was kind of spinning.
I then tried to make sense of it all. I looked at things like:
- Points per game: Which team scores more, usually?
- Recent wins/losses: Are they on a hot streak or a cold streak?
- Home vs. away: Do they play better at home or on the road?
I jotted down some notes on a piece of scrap paper. Mostly just numbers that seemed important. I didn’t really have a formula or anything.
Making a (Totally Uneducated) Guess
After staring at these numbers for, like, an hour, I decided to just go with my gut.
It seems like it could go either way,Really.

I think, I guess, so I don’t see a clear * my final prediction is a totally unscientific guess.
I didn’t bet any money or anything, though! This was just for fun, to see if I could even get close.
The Takeaway (So Far)
This whole prediction thing is harder than it looks! There’s so much information out there, and it’s tough to know what’s actually important. I definitely need to learn a lot more if I want to get any good at this. Maybe I’ll try a different game next time and see if it makes any more sense.
It was interesting, though!
