Okay, so today was all about getting “dr j and wife” up and running. I’d been meaning to mess with this for a while, and finally carved out some time.

First, I gathered all the stuff I needed. This was mostly just making sure I had the right files downloaded and organized. It was a bit of a mess at first, files scattered everywhere, but I created a new folder and dumped everything in there. Much better.
Next, I dug through the readme file. Usually, these things are confusing, written in some alien language, but this one was surprisingly okay. It at least gave me a general idea of what to do. I’m pretty sure I messed up the next part though. Following the direction, the progress stuck for almost 10 minutes.
I started the process of getting them up and running. It involved some command line work. It’s the boring part of the job. I hit enter and … nothing. Just a blinking cursor. Great. I checked the file.
After a bit of Googling,I figured out I needed to tweak a couple of settings. To solve that, I had to track back what I have done from the very beginning. I spent some time on it. Then I double-checked everything. I typed the command again, hit enter, and… progress!
I watched as lines of text scrolled by. Honestly, I didn’t understand half of it, but it looked like it was working. I’m pretty sure it was the progress bar. Then, after a few minutes, it finished. No error messages, which is always a good sign.
Finally, I tested it out. I mean, that’s the whole point, right? And… it worked! At least, the basic stuff seemed to be functioning. I poked around a bit, tried a few different things, and everything seemed pretty smooth. I was glad that I have made it!
There’s still a ton more to explore, but for a first run, I’m calling it a win. I might even try to customize some things later, but for now, I’m just happy I got it working without any major meltdowns.
