Okay, so I got curious about something the other day – who are all the Oklahoma Sooners who’ve snagged a Heisman Trophy? I mean, OU football is legendary, so there’s gotta be a bunch, right?

First thing I did was hit up the internet, just a simple search. I figured there’d be lists all over the place, and I was right. Found a ton of articles and sports sites talking about it.
Digging into the Winners
I started making a list, jotting down names as I found them. Honestly, it was pretty cool seeing all these legendary players in one place. I went one by one. I wanted to see what made them so special.
- Billy Vessels (1952): Okay, first up. This guy was a halfback way back when. It was cool to read that he was the very first Sooner to win!
- Steve Owens (1969): Another running back. These old-school guys were workhorses.
- Billy Sims(1978). I found this amazing, he score 22 touchdowns.
- Jason White (2003) and Sam Bradford (2008): These two were closer together, both quarterbacks. It was cool to see how the game changed, with more passing focus.
- Baker Mayfield (2017) and Kyler Murray (2018): Back-to-back quarterbacks! That’s crazy. These guys were electric to watch when I search about them, so much energy.
- Caleb Williams(2021): The latest Sooner. It’s cool to think he’s part of this amazing lineage.
I got a little sidetracked watching old highlight reels, but hey, that’s part of the fun, right? After my online searching, I felt like I had a pretty solid handle on the OU Heisman winners. It’s an impressive group, no doubt about it.
