Okay, so I wanted to check out how the Dodgers and Padres players did in their last game. Here’s how I went about it.

Finding the Stats
First, I needed to find a place that had the stats. I just did search in search * enough.
I went to the one of the sites that had the box score for the game I wanted. A box score is basically a summary of the game with all the key stats.
Checking Out the Hitters
I started by looking at the hitting stats. Stuff like:
- AB: At-bats (how many times they came up to the plate).
- R: Runs scored (how many times they made it all the way around the bases).
- H: Hits (how many times they got a hit).
- RBI: Runs batted in (how many runs they drove in with their hits).
- BB: Walks – also known as “bases on balls”, this is how many times they walked.
- SO: Strikeouts.
I looked at how my favorite players, you know Mookie Betts, Shohei Ohtani and Fernando Tatis Jr. did. Checked their hits, RBIs, all that good stuff.
Digging into Pitching
Then, I switched over to the pitching stats:
- IP: Innings pitched (how many innings they pitched).
- H: Hits allowed (how many hits they gave up).
- R: Runs allowed (how many runs they gave up).
- ER: Earned runs allowed (runs that were their “fault,” basically).
- BB: Walks (how many batters they walked).
- SO: Strikeouts (how many batters they struck out).
I wanted to see how guys like Yu Darvish, and Tyler Glasnow were doing, how many strikeouts they had, how many runs they allowed. That kind of thing.
Comparing Players
After I had a good look at the stats, I started comparing some players. Who had more hits? Who had more strikeouts? Just kinda seeing who had a better game overall.
That’s pretty much it! It’s a simple way to get a feel for how the players performed. I just find a good box score, check the stats I’m interested in, and compare some players. Nothing too complicated!
