Okay, so I got this email about the Apex Convention 2023, and I was like, “Hmm, sounds interesting, might be worth checking out.” I’ve been dabbling in Salesforce stuff for a while, and this seemed like a good way to maybe learn some new tricks and see what’s up in the community.

First thing I did was, of course, check out the website. I needed to see what kind of sessions they were offering, who the speakers were, and, most importantly, how much it was gonna cost me. The agenda looked pretty packed, with talks on everything from basic Apex coding to some really advanced stuff that I’m not even sure I understood.
Registration Time!
So, I decided to bite the bullet and register. The process was pretty straightforward, you know, the usual name, email, company, blah blah blah. I opted for the early bird ticket to save a few bucks, because, who doesn’t love a discount?
Getting Ready
Before the event, I did a little prep work.
- I looked up some of the speakers and checked out their blogs or LinkedIn profiles, just to get a feel for their expertise.
- I also brushed up on some Apex fundamentals, just in case I felt totally lost during the sessions.
- I made sure that I got all my work prepared in advance, make sure that I would be free at those days.
The Big Day(s)!
The convention itself was, well, a lot. There were tons of people, all buzzing around, talking about Salesforce this and Apex that. I grabbed my badge and a coffee, and dove right in.
I ended up going to a bunch of sessions. Some were really good, with speakers who were engaging and clearly knew their stuff. Others, not so much. But hey, that’s how these things go, right? You win some, you lose some.
I took a TON of notes during the sessions. My handwriting is atrocious, so hopefully, I can actually read them later. I tried to jot down key takeaways, code snippets, and any resources that the speakers mentioned.
Networking (aka Awkward Small Talk)
There were also some networking events, which, to be honest, are not my favorite part of these things. I’m not the most outgoing person, so standing around making small talk with strangers can be a bit painful. But, I did manage to chat with a few people, exchange some business cards, and even learn a couple of useful tips.
The Aftermath
After the convention, I felt like my brain was completely fried. There was just so much information to process! I spent the next few days going through my notes, organizing them, and trying to make sense of everything I’d learned.

I even did pratical exercises from the notes that I got, and yes! I made it!
Overall, I’d say the Apex Convention 2023 was a worthwhile experience. I definitely picked up some new knowledge and skills, and it was cool to be surrounded by other people who are passionate about Salesforce. Would I go again? Yeah, probably. But next time, I might bring a bigger notebook… and maybe some earplugs for the really crowded sessions.
