Alright, so I’ve been seeing this Conor McGregor haircut everywhere, and I finally decided to give it a shot. It’s, like, super short on the sides and back, and then longer on top, right? Sounds simple enough, but trust me, it’s a bit trickier than it looks.

The Prep Work
First, I washed my hair. Gotta start with a clean slate, you know? Then I towel-dried it, leaving it a little damp, but not dripping. This makes it easier to work with.
The Sides and Back
This is where things got real. I grabbed my clippers, and I think I used a number 1 guard? Maybe a 2? Honestly, I kinda winged it. I started buzzing the sides and back, going pretty high up. Like, almost to the top of my head. It felt kinda scary at first, taking off that much hair.
- I kept checking in the mirror to make sure I was keeping it even.
- I definitely messed up a couple of times and had to go back and try to blend it.
- It’s a learning process, folks!
The Top
The top was a bit easier. I just dampened it again and combed it over to the side. Then, I used scissors to trim it, keeping it longer than the sides, obviously. I kinda eyeballed the length, trying to get that slicked-back look that McGregor has.
- I took my time with the scissors, snipping little bits at a time.
- I kept combing it back to see how it was looking.
The Styling
After I finished cutting, I put in some texturing product.
I rubbed a small amount between my hands and then worked it through my hair, mostly on top. This helped to give it some hold and that slightly messy, textured look.
I used my fingers to style it, pushing it back and to the side. It took a few tries to get it right. My hair’s not naturally that cooperative.
Final Thoughts
Okay, so it’s not perfect. It’s definitely not a professional-level haircut. But, you know, I did it myself! It’s close enough to the McGregor style, and I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. It’s a bit of a bold look, and it’s definitely taking some getting used to, but I’m kinda digging it.

Would I do it again? Maybe. I might try to find a better tutorial next time, or maybe even just go to a barber. But hey, it was a fun experiment!
