Okay, so I’ve been seeing a lot of buzz about the “red spider putter” lately. It’s everywhere, golf forums, social media, you name it. I figured, why not give it a shot? My putting has been, well, let’s just say it needs some serious help. So, I decided to take the plunge and see what all the fuss was about.

First things first, I went online and started looking for one. Found a few different models, some with different alignment aids and stuff. I opted for a pretty standard-looking one, nothing too fancy. Placed the order, and it arrived a few days later. The unboxing was pretty exciting, I have to admit.
First Impressions
Right out of the box, the thing looked…intense. That bright red color, it definitely stands out. The head felt heavier than my old putter, which I wasn’t sure about at first. I spent a good few minutes just holding it, getting a feel for the weight and balance. It seemed pretty solid, though.
Practice Time
- First putt: Whoa. I totally overhit it. The ball just flew past the hole.
- Second putt: Adjusted my stroke, and…much better. Still a little strong, but closer.
- Third putt: Okay, I think I’m getting the hang of this. Sank it!
I spent a good hour on the practice green, just trying to dial in the distance control. It definitely felt different than my old putter. The heavier head seemed to help me keep the putter head on line. I started to notice I was making more short putts, which is usually my weakness. I also experiemented with a few of the alignment features, to get used to the lines and sight.
On the Course
The real test, of course, was on the course. I was a little nervous to pull it out on the first green, but I figured, what the heck. My first putt with it was a tricky little five-footer, and…I drained it! It felt great. I ended up having one of my best putting rounds in a long time. I wasn’t sinking everything, but I definitely felt more confident over the ball. That heavier head and the alignment aids seemed to be working.
Overall, I’m pretty happy with the red spider putter so far. It’s definitely made a difference in my game. I’m still getting used to it, but I’m excited to see how much more I can improve with it. It’s not a magic wand or anything, but it’s definitely a step in the right direction. Will keep practicing, and enjoy my putting, at least for now!
