Okay, so today I decided to dive into this “Wilderness Retreat” thing in Monopoly Go. I’d seen it pop up a few times, and honestly, I was kinda curious. Figured I’d give it a shot and see what all the fuss was about.

First, I opened up the Monopoly Go app. You know, the usual routine. Landed on my board, collected my daily stuff. Then I noticed the Wilderness Retreat banner at the top of the screen. It was flashing and had some countdown timer, so I figured it was a limited-time event. No time like the present, right?
I tapped on the banner, and it took me to this new screen. It had this whole forest-y, cabin-y vibe. Looked kinda cozy, actually. There was a bunch of different milestones or levels, each with a reward attached. Dice rolls, cash, those sticker packs… the usual Monopoly Go goodies.
The main thing seemed to be collecting these little axe-head things. The game called them “pickaxes,” I think. To get them, you just played the game like normal. Roll the dice, move around the board, land on properties, do all those event and tournament things. Every so often, you’d land on a tile that gave you some pickaxes.
- Started playing: I rolled a few times, landed on a couple of railroads. Nothing major.
- Got some Pickaxes: Then, BAM! Landed on a Chance space that gave me, like, five pickaxes. Sweet!
- Checked the Rewards: I went back to the Wilderness Retreat screen to see how many I needed for the first reward. It was something small, like 20 dice rolls. Not bad.
I kept playing for about an hour. I’m not gonna lie, it was pretty much the same as regular Monopoly Go. Just with this extra layer of collecting pickaxes. I did manage to hit a few more of those special tiles. Even landed on one during a tournament, which was a nice bonus.
Finally, I collected enough pickaxes to get that first reward. Claimed my 20 dice rolls. Woohoo! I looked at the next milestone. It needed, like, double the pickaxes. Okay, gonna take a bit longer.
My Progress, in a Nutshell:
- Played for about an hour.
- Collected enough pickaxes for the first reward (20 dice rolls).
- Realized the next rewards will take a LOT more grinding.
Honestly, it’s a nice little distraction. If you’re already playing Monopoly Go, you might as well collect these pickaxes while you’re at it. The rewards are decent, and it doesn’t really change the core gameplay. But I wouldn’t say it’s anything revolutionary. It’s just… more Monopoly Go. Which, I guess, is what I signed up for!
I’ll probably keep chipping away at it over the next few days, see how far I can get. Maybe I’ll even snag one of those bigger rewards. Who knows? For now, though, I’m calling it a day. Time to, you know, do something other than roll digital dice.
