Okay, so I finally got around to playing MLB The Show 23, and let me tell you, it’s been a ride. I’m not a hardcore baseball fanatic, but I do enjoy a good sports game, and this one definitely caught my attention.

Getting Started
First things first, I jumped into the game and was immediately overwhelmed by the options. There’s so much to do! You’ve got your standard exhibition games, franchise mode, Road to the Show (where you create a player and guide them through their career), and a bunch of other stuff I didn’t even get to yet.
Road to the Show
I decided to start with Road to the Show, figuring it would be a good way to ease into the gameplay. I created my player, a lanky pitcher with a killer fastball (in my dreams, anyway), and got drafted by some team I’d never heard of.
- The grind began. I was playing minor league games, trying to improve my stats, and slowly working my way up to the majors. It’s a bit of a process, to be honest.
- The gameplay itself is pretty solid. Pitching feels intuitive; you choose your pitch, aim it, and try to hit the meter at the right spot for maximum power and accuracy. Batting is trickier, but I started to get the hang of it after a while. It’s all about timing and reading the pitcher.
- I also found it’s very satisfying when I hit a home run!
Exploring other modes
After a few hours in Road to the Show, I decided to check out some of the other modes. I dabbled in franchise mode, where you take control of a team and manage everything from player trades to ticket prices. It’s pretty deep, and I can see myself getting lost in it for hours.
I even did some Diamond Dynasty matches, and the game is even fun and deep.
My final thoughts
Overall, I’m enjoying MLB The Show 23. It’s a well-made game with a ton of content, and it’s definitely scratching my baseball itch. Whether you’re a die-hard fan or just looking for a fun sports game, I think it’s worth checking out.
