Alright, so today I decided to dive into something a bit different – I wanted to create a highlight reel for Ja Morant. I’m no video editing expert, but I’ve always admired those slick NBA mixes and figured, “Why not give it a shot?”
First things first, I needed footage. I spent a good chunk of the morning just browsing through YouTube. I wasn’t looking for anything specific, just any game highlights that really showed off Ja’s insane athleticism and playmaking skills. I ended up with a bunch of different clips – some full games, some just short highlight packages.
Then came the fun part (or so I thought). I figured I could use a basic video editor. Nothing fancy, you know? I grabbed a free one online. My first task to cut some game videos, because each one are too long.
Next, I started to import all the different clips into the video editor. This part was actually pretty satisfying, seeing all these moments of Ja just dominating on the court lined up and ready to go.
My basic plan was simple:
- Find the best plays: Dunks, crazy layups, slick passes – the stuff that makes you go “whoa!”
- Cut them down: Get rid of any unnecessary lead-up, just focus on the action.
- Arrange them: Try to put them in some kind of order, maybe build up to the most impressive highlights.
I started trimming and arranging. And this is where I hit a wall. Matching the music to the highlights? Way harder than it looks. I spent ages fiddling with the timing, trying to get those big moments to hit right on the beat. Let me tell you, it’s a real skill!
After a few hours of wrestling with the editor.I added some basic transitions – nothing too flashy, just some simple fades and cuts. Finally,I did it!
It’s definitely not perfect, but hey, I learned a ton. Maybe next time I’ll try adding some text overlays or something. Baby steps, right?
