Thinking about wrestling duos really takes me back. Man, Saturday mornings used to be all about catching those matches. The energy when a good team came out, the coordination they had… it was just exciting to watch as a kid.

I remember me and my buddy, we were totally obsessed. We didn’t have a ring or anything, obviously. But we’d try to copy the entrances, you know? The strutting, the poses. We’d argue over who got to be Hawk and who was Animal, or Bret and the Anvil. It was just pure fun, pretending to be these larger-than-life partners taking on the world. We never did any of the dangerous moves, mostly just jumped off the couch onto cushions, pretending it was a tag.
That whole idea of partnership, having someone’s back, it seemed so cool. It wasn’t just one guy, it was two working together, sometimes perfectly, sometimes messing up, but always a team.
Sorting Through Old Stuff
Fast forward to last weekend. I was cleaning out the attic, box after box of old junk. And guess what I found? A dusty old box with some of my childhood action figures. Seeing those reminded me of all those hours spent watching wrestling.
So, what did I do? I decided to actually sit down and revisit some of those classic tag team matches. It was my little project for the afternoon. I didn’t need fancy setups, just spent some time finding old footage.
Here’s what I did:
- Made a short list of my absolute favorite teams from back then.
- Tried to find one or two key matches for each.
- Just watched. Didn’t analyze too much, just soaked it in.
It was pretty interesting watching them again as an adult. You notice different things. The crowd reactions, how the stories were built up even in older matches. But mostly? It was just pure nostalgia. It brought back that simple feeling of excitement I had as a kid. Seeing those guys work together, even knowing it’s all choreographed entertainment, still had a certain charm. It’s funny how something so simple from way back when can still bring a smile to your face. Just a good trip down memory lane, really.
