Okay, so I was digging through some old boxes in the garage the other day. You know how it goes, looking for one thing, end up finding something completely different. Pulled out this dusty container, and inside, guess what? A stack of old baseball cards.

Wasn’t really planning on a trip down memory lane, but there they were. And a bunch of them were these specific Topps cards, the ones they used to make showing the top 3 home run leaders from the league for that year. Remember those? Usually had three dudes crammed onto one card.
Rediscovering the Cards
Seeing those faces again, guys I watched growing up… it really hit me. Some real sluggers on those cards. I spread them out on the floor. Found quite a few, actually, spanning maybe a decade or so. Some were pretty worn, edges softened, clearly ones I handled a lot as a kid. Others were surprisingly crisp.
My first thought was just to put them back in the box. But then I figured, nah, let’s actually do something with them. They’ve been sitting in the dark for years.
The Sorting Process
So, I decided my little project for the afternoon was to sort these ‘Home Run Leaders 3 Topps’ cards out properly. Here’s basically what I did:
- Dumped ’em out: Got them all out of the box and onto a clear table.
- Sorted by year: Started grouping them based on the year printed on the card. Made little piles.
- Checked the players: Took a closer look at who was featured each year. It was fun seeing the names change, who was dominant when.
- Condition check: Eyeballed each one. Put the really beat-up ones in one pile, the decent ones in another.
It wasn’t rocket science, just spending some time with them. Found myself looking up a few players online, just remembering their careers. It’s funny how cards can trigger that.
Final Thoughts and What’s Next
Took a couple of hours, but I got them all sorted by year and condition. Felt kinda satisfying, you know? Giving these little pieces of cardboard some attention. I put the better ones into some soft sleeves I had lying around – better than just tossing them back in the box loose.
What now? Well, I’m not planning on selling them or getting them graded or any of that nonsense. That whole scene is just too much these days. I think I’ll just keep the sorted stack somewhere accessible. Maybe pick out a few favorite years or players and put them in a small display frame for my desk or bookshelf. A little reminder of those players and maybe simpler times watching ballgames.
So yeah, that was my little ‘home run leaders 3 topps’ project. Nothing groundbreaking, just spending some time with old memories and getting things a tiny bit more organized. It was a good afternoon.
