Alright, here’s the lowdown on how I tackled that Alex Pereira face paint thing. Saw the idea online and thought, “Why not?” Looked kinda cool, right?

First things first, I did some digging online. Just googled “Alex Pereira face paint” and scrolled through a bunch of images to get a good idea of what I was aiming for. There were a lot of variations, some more detailed than others. I decided to go for something relatively simple, the basic tribal-ish design.
Next up, the gear. Went to the local party supply store. Grabbed a face paint kit – you know, the kind with a bunch of colors and those little sponge applicator thingies. Made sure it was non-toxic, ’cause, you know, face. Also picked up a thin paintbrush for the finer details. Oh, and a hand mirror is a must, unless you’ve got a super helpful buddy.
So, here’s where the fun began. I started by washing my face, just to get rid of any oils or dirt. Then, I grabbed a printout of one of the reference images I found online and propped it up in front of me. I decided to start with the main lines, the bold ones that run down the cheeks and forehead.
Dipped the brush in the black paint (making sure it wasn’t too watery or too thick) and started tracing the lines. This was tricky! Keeping things symmetrical was a real challenge. I ended up using the mirror to check my progress every few strokes. Definitely recommend taking your time here, rushing it will just lead to wonky lines.
Once I had the basic lines down, I moved on to the smaller details – the little dots and squiggles that fill in the design. This is where the thin paintbrush came in handy. I just followed the reference image as best I could, adding my own little flourishes here and there. It doesn’t have to be perfect, that’s the beauty of it!
Made a couple of mistakes, of course. But that’s where a damp cloth or a wet wipe comes in. Just gently dab the area and start again. Don’t scrub too hard, or you’ll end up smearing everything.
After about an hour (yeah, it took longer than I thought), I was finally done! I took a bunch of pictures, of course, and even tried out a few “tough guy” poses. Looked pretty decent, if I do say so myself!
The best part? Washing it all off! The face paint kit I bought came with some instructions on how to remove the paint. Basically, just soap and water did the trick. Took a bit of scrubbing, but it all came off eventually.
Lessons learned?
- Reference images are your friend.
- Take your time and don’t rush it.
- A thin paintbrush is essential for details.
- Don’t be afraid to make mistakes, you can always fix them.
- And most importantly, have fun with it!
Would I do it again? Definitely! It was a fun little project, and it’s a cool way to show some support for Pereira. Maybe next time I’ll try a more elaborate design. Who knows?
