Okay, so I got thinking about Kendal Briles the other day. You hear his name mentioned quite a bit when talking about offensive coaches, especially ones known for tempo and putting up points. I realized I didn’t have a clear picture of exactly where he’s been. So, I decided to sit down and actually trace his path.

Starting the Search
Fired up my computer and just started poking around. My first searches were pretty basic, things like “Kendal Briles coaching history” or “where has Kendal Briles coached”. You get a lot of news hits, opinion pieces, stuff like that. Had to sift through a bit to get to the actual timeline.
I started jotting things down as I found them, trying to get the years right. It took a little cross-referencing between a few different sports sites and coaching bio pages just to make sure I wasn’t mixing things up.
Putting the Pieces Together
Alright, so here’s what I pieced together from my digging. It seems like his longest stretch was early on.
- He spent a good chunk of time at Baylor. Started there way back, around 2008, I think. Held different jobs over the years, like coaching receivers and eventually becoming the Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks coach. That lasted until about 2016.
After Baylor, it looks like he started moving around more frequently. It became almost a yearly thing for a bit there.
- Found out he landed at FAU (Florida Atlantic) for the 2017 season. He was the Offensive Coordinator and coached QBs there too.
- Then, for 2018, he popped up at the University of Houston. Same deal mostly, Associate Head Coach, Offensive Coordinator, and QB coach.
- Next stop was Florida State for the 2019 season. Again, the role was Offensive Coordinator and QB coach.
More Recent Stops
Seemed like he found a slightly longer home after that.
- He spent three seasons, from 2020 through 2022, at Arkansas. No surprise, he was the Offensive Coordinator and handled the quarterbacks.
- Then came the 2023 season, where he moved over to TCU, again as the Offensive Coordinator and QB guy.
The very latest part got a little confusing for a second because things happened fast. He was briefly announced at Arkansas State for the 2024 season, but then pretty quickly took the same job, Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach, at Mississippi State, which seems to be where he’s set for this upcoming season.
So yeah, that was my little project. Started out just curious and ended up mapping out quite a journey across different programs. It was interesting to see the path laid out like that, especially the series of one-year stints after his time at Baylor before settling in a bit more at Arkansas and now moving again. Just wanted to share what I found!
