Okay, so yesterday was kinda wild. I was scrolling through my sports news feed, you know, just catching up on the latest, and I saw this headline: “kennedy mcdowell injury.” My first thought was, “Whoa, what happened?” McDowell isn’t exactly a household name, but I’ve seen him play a few times, and he’s got potential.

Naturally, I clicked on the article. But the article was super vague! Just mentioned an “undisclosed injury” during practice. Undisclosed? That’s code for “we don’t want you to know how bad it is.” So, I did what any self-respecting sports fan would do – I went digging.
First stop: Twitter. I searched “kennedy mcdowell injury” and started scrolling. Mostly just fans speculating, but then I found a tweet from a local sports reporter I follow. They mentioned seeing McDowell leave practice with his arm in a sling. Okay, that’s not good.
Next, I checked the team’s official website. Nada. Zilch. Nothing about an injury. Classic damage control. I then remembered that I used to use Reddit for news about sports, and I thought I would give it a try.
I dug around on some sports forums and found a few threads discussing the situation. A couple of people claimed to have seen McDowell’s injury firsthand. One person said it was a shoulder dislocation, another claimed it was a broken collarbone. Rumors, rumors, rumors! It was impossible to tell what was true.
I then decided to check out if there were any videos about it. I knew it was a long shot, but I typed “kennedy mcdowell injury practice” into YouTube. Score! A fan had filmed a short clip of McDowell going down during a scrimmage. It wasn’t super clear, but it definitely looked like he landed hard on his shoulder. Yikes.
I felt like a proper investigator at this point, so I tried to find out if I could find anything on social media. I searched for any posts about the game, hoping that it would lead me to something of substance. As luck would have it, I found one of the assistant coaches that posted something a day before the “incident.” I decided to message them and asked if everything was okay, but I never received a response, which made me even more suspicious.
Still, I decided to go back and check the news one more time and BOOM. They had updated the article saying he dislocated his shoulder and would be out for at least 6-8 weeks.
Honestly, it was a whole afternoon dedicated to finding out what happened. Was it worth it? I don’t know. But hey, at least I know the real story now. And that’s what matters, right?
