Okay, so I dove headfirst into this whole “MLB The Show 23 WBC” thing. It was kinda a spur-of-the-moment decision, but I’m glad I did it. Let me walk you through what went down.

First off, I fired up the game. Obviously, right? I hadn’t really touched it in a while, been playing other stuff. But the WBC mode was calling my name. I knew I wanted to mess around with the World Baseball Classic rosters.
Then, I went straight into the custom roster section. That’s where the real fun begins. I spent a solid hour, maybe more, tweaking rosters, making sure everyone was on the right team, checking ratings. You know, the usual stuff. I was trying to get the teams as close to the real WBC squads as possible.
This is where it got interesting. Some of the players weren’t in the game by default. So I had to create them. Man, that takes time. Adjusting stances, faces, all that jazz. I’m no artist, but I tried my best to make them look somewhat realistic. It was a real grind, but I felt like I was doing something really cool.
After the rosters were (mostly) done, I jumped into an exhibition game. I chose USA vs. Japan, the classic matchup. I wanted to see if my roster edits made a difference. And you know what? They did! The game felt way more authentic, like I was watching a real WBC game.
The gameplay itself was alright. I messed with the sliders a bit to make it more challenging. I’m not trying to win every game 20-0, you know? I wanted some realistic scores and close games.
- I jacked up the CPU’s hitting sliders a tad.
- Turned down my own pitching control a bit.
- Made the fielding more error-prone.
I ended up playing a few games. The Japan game was a nail-biter, went into extra innings. I actually lost, which was kinda frustrating but also cool because it felt real! Then I played a game as Dominican Republic, just mashing homers with Vlad Jr. It was a blast.
Overall Thoughts
All in all, messing around with the MLB The Show 23 WBC stuff was a fun experience. It took some effort to get the rosters right, but it was worth it to have a more authentic experience. I’d recommend it if you’re a baseball fan and want to relive the WBC excitement.
It’s not perfect, of course. The game is still the game, and there are limitations. But with some tweaking and a bit of effort, you can have a pretty cool time. I might even start a full season using these rosters. Who knows?
