Okay, so today I spent some time tackling the “Shadows of the Past” quest in Wuthering Waves. Figured I’d share how it went down.

Getting Started
It all began when I was just wandering around Jinzhou, near the main city area. I overheard some folks talking about weird stuff happening at some old ruins nearby. Sounded interesting enough, so I decided to mosey on over there myself. You know how it is, always looking for something new to do.
When I got to the spot marked on my map, I found this old guy, looked like a researcher or something, pacing back and forth. Seemed pretty worked up. Naturally, I went up and started a chat.
The Investigation Begins
He told me his name, though honestly, I kinda forgot it already. Anyway, he was studying the ruins but got spooked by what he called ‘shadows’ and strange noises, like echoes from way back. He asked if I could take a look inside, figure out what was causing the disturbance. Seemed simple enough, so I agreed. That officially kicked off the quest in my log.
I headed into the ruins proper. Gotta say, the atmosphere was pretty cool, a bit eerie. Lots of crumbling walls and overgrown paths. Perfect place for spooky shadows, I guess.
- First thing I did was pull out my sensor gadget. Started scanning around the entrance.
- Picked up some faint energy readings, like leftover traces of something.
- Decided to follow these trails deeper into the ruins.
Digging Deeper and Facing Trouble
Following the energy signatures wasn’t too hard. They led me through a few broken corridors and open courtyards within the ruin complex. Of course, it wasn’t just a walk in the park. Ran into some Tacet Discords along the way. Guess they were attracted to whatever energy was lingering there too. Had to clear them out. Swapped through my team, used a few combos, nothing too crazy but kept me on my toes.
After a bit of fighting and following the trails, I found something interesting: an old datapad or recording device half-buried in rubble. I activated it. It played back some garbled audio logs, like fragmented memories. This must have been the ‘shadows’ the old guy was talking about. It gave snippets of conversations from people who lived or worked there ages ago, talking about some kind of experiment or event.
Puzzles and the Final Chamber
The logs hinted at a specific chamber deeper inside where the main event happened. To get there, I had to figure out a small puzzle. It involved activating a few ancient consoles in the right sequence. The clues were subtle, hidden in the environment and mentioned briefly in those audio logs I found. Took me a minute, pressing things in the wrong order first, but eventually, I heard that satisfying ‘click’ sound and a big stone door rumbled open.
Inside the final chamber, the energy readings went way up. And there it was – a bigger, tougher Tacet Discord, looked different from the usual ones, probably infused with whatever energy was concentrated here. Had a decent fight with it. Dodged its attacks, broke its Veneration, and finally took it down. Felt good to beat it after figuring out the puzzle.

Wrapping It Up
Once the big Discord was gone, the weird energy fluctuations in the room died down. The atmosphere felt calmer. I looked around and found a small, ancient-looking artifact on a pedestal – seemed important. Picked it up.
With the artifact in hand and the disturbances seemingly gone, I headed back out of the ruins. Found the researcher guy waiting where I left him, looking anxious.
I told him what I found, about the energy trails, the audio logs, the final chamber, and the big Discord. Showed him the artifact I recovered. He was really grateful, explained a bit more about the historical significance of the place based on what I told him. Said I’d helped piece together a lost part of the area’s history. Then he handed over the rewards – some Union EXP, credits, and a few materials. Standard stuff, but the real reward was figuring out the little mystery.
So yeah, that was my run through “Shadows of the Past”. A nice little adventure, bit of exploration, bit of combat, and a small puzzle. Enjoyed uncovering that bit of lore. On to the next thing now!
