Okay, so today I’m gonna walk you through my latest clash royale deck adventure. It’s been a rollercoaster, lemme tell ya!

It all started when I got super bored with my old deck. Like, really bored. I was stuck around the same trophy range, and every match felt like a total slog. So I thought, “Screw it, time for something completely different!”
First, I jumped online, looked at some pro decks, y’know, tried to get some inspiration. But everything felt kinda cookie-cutter. I wanted something… me. So I decided to build from scratch.
I started with my favorite card: the Hog Rider. That dude’s just too fun. Fast, hits hard… what’s not to love? So I knew he’d be the core of my push. Next up, I needed some support. Thought about the Valkyrie for splash damage and the Musketeer for air defense. Seemed like a solid start.
Then came the tricky part: spells. I was torn between Fireball and Poison. Fireball’s got that instant gratification, but Poison can really shut down those annoying swarm decks. Ended up going with Fireball ’cause I’m impatient like that.
Okay, so now I had Hog Rider, Valkyrie, Musketeer, and Fireball. Needed some cheap cycle cards to keep the deck moving. Skeletons and Goblins felt like the right fit. Plus, they can be surprisingly effective on defense.
Almost there! I was missing some building targeting units, and a way to defend against tanks. I went with Minion Horde to take down the beefy boys like Giant or Golem, and the Inferno Tower to melt everything with high health.
So here’s the final deck: Hog Rider, Valkyrie, Musketeer, Fireball, Skeletons, Goblins, Minion Horde, and Inferno Tower. Looked pretty decent on paper, but the real test was in the arena.
The first few matches were… rough. Like, really rough. I was getting crushed. My timing was off, my placements were terrible, and I kept getting countered hard. Felt like I’d made a huge mistake. I was dropping trophies faster than I was dropping cards.

But I didn’t give up! I kept tweaking things, experimenting with different strategies. I learned to be more patient, to wait for the right moment to push. I started paying closer attention to my opponent’s elixir, and tried to anticipate their moves.
Slowly but surely, things started to click. I started winning more matches, and my trophy count started climbing again. The key was learning how to use each card effectively. Like, using the Skeletons to kite troops away from my tower, or using the Fireball to clear out a pesky Witch.
I found that the Hog Rider + Valkyrie combo was particularly effective. The Valkyrie clears out ground troops, while the Hog Rider goes straight for the tower. Super satisfying when it works.
The Minion Horde turned out to be a bit of a glass cannon. It can melt tanks, but it’s also super vulnerable to spells like Arrows or Wizard. So I had to be careful when I used it.
After a few days of grinding, I finally reached a new personal best trophy count! It wasn’t easy, but it was definitely worth it. Building my own deck and learning how to play it effectively was way more rewarding than just copying some pro deck.
Of course, the deck isn’t perfect. I still struggle against certain matchups, like those with heavy splash damage or lots of air defense. But I’m constantly tweaking it, trying to find ways to improve. That’s the fun of Clash Royale, right?
So, here’s my advice if you’re thinking about building your own deck:
- Start with a core card that you enjoy playing.
- Build around that card, thinking about what kind of support it needs.
- Don’t be afraid to experiment and try new things.
- Be patient! It takes time to learn a new deck.
- Most importantly, have fun!
That’s all for today. Hope you found this helpful! Let me know in the comments if you have any questions or suggestions. And good luck on the ladder!
