Alright, let me walk you through how I looked up the head-to-head record between Andy Roddick and Novak Djokovic the other day. It was pretty simple, really.

I was just kicking back, thinking about some of those older tennis rivalries, you know? The ones from before the absolute peak of the Big Three. Roddick’s serve and Djokovic’s rise came to mind. I got curious about how they actually matched up against each other over their careers.
Getting Started
So, first thing, I grabbed my laptop. Just flipped it open on the coffee table. Had to wait a second for it to wake up, the usual.
Then, I opened up my web browser. Whichever one was quickest, doesn’t really matter which.
The Search
Clicked into the search bar at the top. My fingers just kind of automatically typed it in. Something like:
roddick djokovic h2h
Or maybe it was “roddick vs djokovic head to head”. Close enough either way. Hit Enter.
Got a page full of results back, pretty much instantly. You know how it is, loads of sports sites, stats pages, that kind of thing.
Finding the Actual Record
I didn’t click the very first link, sometimes those are ads or summaries that don’t have the full picture. I scanned down maybe two or three results. Usually, I look for the official ATP Tour site or a big-name sports network, they tend to have reliable stats.

Clicked on one that looked promising. Landed on a page, and yeah, it had their matchup history. Sometimes you have to scroll a bit past recent news or player bios.
Found the section specifically labeled “Head 2 Head” or something similar. It listed out their matches, often with the scores and tournament details.
But what I really wanted was the summary, the final tally. And there it was, usually right at the top of that section.
The Result
Turns out, the record was:
- Andy Roddick: 5 wins
- Novak Djokovic: 4 wins
Yeah, Roddick actually finished with a winning record against him. A bit surprising when you think about Djokovic’s overall career, but Roddick nabbed quite a few wins, especially earlier on before Djokovic fully hit his stride. I remembered Roddick winning that Dubai match and a couple of others.
So, that was it. Took maybe, what, two or three minutes? Just a quick search out of curiosity. It’s interesting to see those numbers sometimes, puts those old matches into perspective.
