Alright, so I started digging into this Malachi Corley fella for fantasy football the other day. You hear names buzzing around after the draft, and his popped up quite a bit, especially with him landing on the Jets.

First thing I did, like always, was check the basics. Where did he go in the draft? Third round to the Jets. Okay, decent draft capital, not elite, but teams don’t usually spend a third-rounder on someone they don’t plan to use, right? At least that’s what I tell myself.
Then I tried to remember his college tape. Played at Western Kentucky. Saw some highlights floating around – they called him the “YAC King,” you know, yards after catch. Looked pretty tough, bouncing off tackles, making guys miss in space. Seemed like most of his work was close to the line, screens, short stuff. Not really a deep threat guy from what I saw.
Thinking About the Jets Situation
So he lands with the Jets. That immediately makes you think – Aaron Rodgers. Having a quarterback like that, even coming off a big injury and getting older, is usually a good sign for receivers. Rodgers can get the ball out quick, he’s accurate. That might fit Corley’s game.
But then you gotta look at who else is there. Garrett Wilson is the main man, no question. He’s gonna get a ton of targets. They also brought in Mike Williams. Big guy, red zone threat, but he’s got his own injury history, always seems to miss games. You got Allen Lazard too, another Rodgers guy, though he didn’t do much last year. And Breece Hall catches passes out of the backfield.
So, where does Corley fit into this puzzle? It’s crowded. My guess? He’s gonna fight for that slot role. Seems like his natural spot based on how he played in college. Quick passes, let him use that YAC ability.
My Fantasy Takeaway Process
Putting it all together for fantasy, here’s kinda where my head’s at:
- Draft Capital: Decent enough (Round 3) to think they want him involved.
- Player Skill: Good after the catch, seems tough. Built kinda like a running back.
- Quarterback: Potential upgrade with Rodgers, if Rodgers stays healthy and looks like his old self. Big if.
- Competition: Lots of mouths to feed with Wilson, Williams, Hall. Tough path to getting lots of looks right away.
- Likely Role: Probably the slot guy, short catches.
So, for fantasy, I’m not expecting him to blow up right out of the gate in year one. Seems more like a guy who might be useful in PPR leagues down the line, grabbing 4-5 catches a game maybe? It depends so much on Rodgers’ health and how the Jets decide to use him. Williams’ health is another factor – if he misses time, maybe Corley gets more chances.
Right now, I see him as a late-round pick in deeper leagues or dynasty leagues. Someone you stash and hope he carves out that role. I wouldn’t reach for him thinking he’s gonna be the next Puka Nacua or anything. Too many established guys ahead of him for me to get that excited for this season. But yeah, definitely keeping an eye on him during training camp and preseason. Could be interesting if things break right.
