Alright, so today’s topic is about when you see that dreaded “lol ranked disabled” message. Been there, seen that, done that! Let me walk you through my usual troubleshooting process, the stuff I actually do, not just some theoretical BS.

First thing’s first: Panic slightly. Just kidding… kinda. But seriously, the first thing I do is check the Riot Games Service Status page. Just Google it, it’s usually the first thing that pops up. This is their official place to tell you if the servers are actually on fire. If they are, well, grab a snack and wait it out. Nothing you can do.
If the status page says everything’s A-OK, then it’s time to get a little more hands-on. Next up, restart the client. Obvious, I know, but you’d be surprised how often this fixes things. Close it completely, make sure it’s not still running in the system tray, and then fire it back up. Give it a minute to connect and see if ranked queues are back.
Still no luck? Alright, time for the “nuclear option” (not really, chill). I’m talking about restarting your computer. Yeah, I know, it’s annoying, but sometimes the League client gets itself into a weird state, and a full reboot is the only way to shake it loose. While you’re at it, give your router a quick power cycle too. Unplug it, wait 30 seconds, plug it back in. Can’t hurt, right?
Okay, so you’ve restarted everything, and you’re still seeing “lol ranked disabled”. Now we’re getting into the slightly more annoying stuff. Time to check your internet connection. Are you actually connected? Can you browse the web? Can you watch YouTube? If your internet is wonky, that’s probably the problem. Try resetting your modem too if you’re still having issues.
If your internet seems fine, let’s move on to checking for game updates. Sometimes, Riot pushes out a small patch that requires a restart. Look for a little notification in the client, or just keep an eye on the loading screen when you launch the game. If there’s an update, let it download and install, and then try queuing for ranked again.
Still nothing? This is where I start to get a little frustrated. Okay, time to repair the client. In the League client, go to Settings (the little gear icon), and then click “Repair.” This will check for corrupted files and try to fix them. It can take a while, so be patient.
And if that doesn’t work… well, the ultimate last resort is reinstalling the game. I know, I know, it’s a pain in the ass, but sometimes the League install just gets completely messed up. Uninstall it completely, download the latest installer from the Riot Games website, and reinstall. This usually fixes everything, but it also takes the longest. So save this for last.
I really hope it doesn’t come to that. Honestly, 9 times out of 10, just restarting the client or my computer fixes the “lol ranked disabled” issue. But if not, at least you’ve got a plan of attack. Good luck, summoners, and may your LP gains be plentiful!
