Okay, so you wanna know about my “slow homecoming genshin” adventure? Buckle up, it’s a bit of a story.

It all started when I was feeling super burnt out grinding domains. You know how it is, right? Same enemies, same rewards (mostly trash, let’s be real), just endless repetition. I needed something…different. Something chill.
So, I decided, screw the teleports. I was gonna walk. From Liyue Harbor all the way back to Mondstadt. Yeah, I know, sounds crazy. But hear me out. I wanted to actually see the world, not just fast travel through it.
First thing I did was stock up on food. Lots of it. Sweet Madames, Adeptus’ Temptation for the heals, everything. Couldn’t be caught slippin’ and starving halfway up Dragonspine.
Then, I picked my team. This was crucial. I needed characters that were both fun to play and useful for exploration. So, I went with:
- Zhongli: For the shields, obviously. And because, well, he’s Zhongli.
- Ganyu: Ranged attacks and those sweet, sweet ice bridges across water.
- Kazuha: For the air currents and the style points.
- Sayu: Rolling around at the speed of sound! Perfect for covering long distances.
The first few days were actually kinda tough. I forgot how many hilichurl camps there are between Liyue and Stone Gate. And let me tell you, fighting with the intent of preserving stamina for the journey is a whole different ballgame. I had to be way more strategic, using elemental reactions and positioning to my advantage.
But the real magic started happening when I slowed down. I mean, really slowed down. I started noticing things I’d never seen before. Like, the way the sun sets over Guyun Stone Forest, casting these long, dramatic shadows. Or the little details in the villages, the way the NPCs interact, the tiny shrines hidden in the mountains.
One time, I stumbled across this hidden grove near Mingyun Village. It was filled with Crystalflies! I probably could have farmed them faster teleporting around, but finding them naturally, like that? It was way more rewarding.
Dragonspine was a challenge, as expected. The sheer cold was a constant annoyance, and I nearly fell off a cliff more than once. But even there, I found beauty. The frozen waterfalls, the ancient ruins, the sense of isolation. It felt like a real adventure.

The journey through Mondstadt was like coming home. Seeing the windmills again, hearing the music, it was all so comforting. I even stopped to help some NPCs with their daily tasks, just because I felt like it.
Finally, after what felt like forever, I reached Mondstadt’s gates. I didn’t get any special rewards, no secret achievements. But I felt… different. More connected to the world, more appreciative of the little things.
So, yeah, that was my “slow homecoming genshin” experience. It wasn’t about efficiency or grinding. It was about taking my time, exploring, and rediscovering the joy of the game. I highly recommend giving it a try sometime. You might be surprised what you find.
