Alright, so I got curious the other day about what Louis Oosthuizen had in the bag for 2023. You know, Louie, that smooth swing, always interesting to see what gear he’s trusting. It wasn’t like finding a full official list right away, things change, especially with him playing on the LIV tour now, sometimes the coverage or details are a bit different.

So, I started digging around. Watched some highlights from the LIV events he played in this year. You gotta really pay attention to the clubs when they show close-ups or practice swings. Sometimes the broadcast flashes a graphic, but not always, and you can’t always trust those are 100% up-to-date week to week.
I spent some time looking at photos too. Getty Images, forum discussions where folks share sightings, that kind of stuff. You piece it together, like detective work. You see a flash of a driver head here, a glimpse of an iron sole there.
Trying to Nail Down the Clubs
Okay, the driver. Looked pretty consistently like a Ping. From the shape and the look of the sole, I’m pretty sure it was the Ping G430 LST. Saw that distinctive pattern on the bottom in a few shots. Shafts are always tougher to tell from a distance, though.
Fairway woods? Seemed like he might have had a Ping G430 Max in there, maybe a 3-wood. Sometimes guys carry a 5-wood too, or swap them out depending on the course. Hard to be certain on that second wood without a really clear shot.
Irons are usually a bit easier if they stick with one brand. Louie’s been a Ping guy forever, it feels like. The irons definitely looked like blades, very clean. My best guess, based on pictures and what he’s played before, is the Ping Blueprint irons. Those things look sweet, very much a player’s club.
Wedges next. Again, likely Pings. Those looked like the Ping Glide Forged Pro models. Saw him chipping around the greens in a few clips, and the shape matched up. The specific lofts? No way to tell for sure just by looking, could be anything from 50 to 60 degrees, probably two or three of them.
And the putter. He’s had that Ping putter for a long time, the Anser shape. Pretty sure he was still rolling a Ping PLD Anser, maybe a variation of it, could be the D model. It’s got that classic look he seems to favour.
So Here’s What I Pieced Together
After all that looking around, here’s my best guess for Louis Oosthuizen’s bag in 2023. Keep in mind, this stuff can change week to week!

- Driver: Ping G430 LST (around 9 or 10.5 degrees, probably)
- Fairway Wood: Ping G430 Max (maybe a 3-wood)
- Irons: Ping Blueprint (maybe 4-PW or 5-PW)
- Wedges: Ping Glide Forged Pro (likely 2 or 3, common lofts like 50°, 56°, 60°)
- Putter: Ping PLD Anser D
- Ball: Titleist Pro V1 or Pro V1x (Most pros use one of these)
Yeah, so that’s what I found doing my own little WITB investigation. It’s always fun trying to figure out what gear the top players are using. You see that smooth swing and you just wonder what tools he’s working with. Mostly Ping stuff, which isn’t a surprise given his history. Anyway, that was my little project, figuring out Louie’s 2023 setup.
