My Take on Goff vs Prescott
So, I’ve been thinking about this Goff versus Prescott thing quite a bit lately. It popped into my head after watching some highlights, you know, seeing both guys make some big throws. Got me wondering who I’d actually prefer if I had to pick.

First thing I did, like most people I guess, was just pull up some basic numbers. Didn’t go too deep, just looked at the usual stuff – yards, touchdowns, interceptions. They both put up pretty good stats, honestly. Prescott usually throws a bit more, maybe takes more chances? Goff seemed, I don’t know, maybe a bit more efficient sometimes, but it wasn’t like a night and day difference just looking at the raw numbers.
But stats don’t tell the whole story, right? So, I made sure to actually watch them play more closely over the next few weeks. This is where it gets interesting.
- Watching Goff, especially in that Lions offense, he looks comfortable. He gets the ball out quick, hits his spots, manages the game well. It feels like he really knows the system. Sometimes though, when things break down, it feels a bit shaky.
- Then you watch Prescott. He seems like he can make more happen off-script. Uses his legs sometimes, fits balls into tighter windows. But, man, sometimes those risky throws turn into turnovers. You see more volatility, maybe? Higher highs and lower lows?
Then I started thinking about their situations. It’s tough to compare directly. Goff’s got a solid offensive line most of the time and a system that seems built perfectly for him in Detroit now. He had McVay before, also a great setup. Prescott, well, Dallas has weapons like CeeDee Lamb, but their line situation has been up and down, and you wonder how much he’s carrying things sometimes.
I also tried to remember big moments, clutch situations. Both guys have had great games. Both have had games where you pull your hair out. Prescott feels like he has those moments where he tries to will the team to win, sometimes it works, sometimes it backfires spectacularly. Goff feels more like if the plan is working, he executes it perfectly, but if the plan fails, it’s harder for him to just invent something.
Where I Landed (For Now)
So after going through all that, looking at numbers, watching tape, thinking about their teams… it’s still pretty damn close. They’re both good quarterbacks, obviously.
If I need a guy to run the system perfectly, stay on schedule, make the right reads within the structure, I’m kinda leaning towards Goff right now. He feels safer, more predictable in a good way when things are right.
But if I need someone who might pull a rabbit out of a hat when everything’s falling apart, maybe Prescott has a slight edge there, even with the added risk. It’s that playmaking upside.
Honestly, my opinion might change next week. It really depends on what you value more. It’s not a clear-cut thing for me. I’ll just keep watching them both and see how things play out. It’s fun to think about, anyway.
