Okay, so I finally got around to sitting down and really digging into that Alex Parrers vs Jouri 2 session recording today. Been meaning to do it for a bit.

First thing, I just pulled up the file. Didn’t do anything fancy, just hit play and watched it straight through once. Wanted to get the overall vibe, you know? See how the whole thing flowed without stopping and starting.
After that first watch, I grabbed my trusty old notebook and a pen. Went back to the beginning. This time, I started playing it much slower. Paused it a lot. Rewound bits constantly. If something caught my eye, like a specific combination or a defensive move, I’d watch it two, three, maybe five times over just to really see what was happening.
Breaking it Down
I started focusing on Parrers first. Looked at his stance, how he was moving. Seemed like he was trying to control the center right away. Then I did the same for Jouri, trying to figure out his game plan. He seemed more reactive at the start, maybe waiting for openings.
Key things I jotted down:
- Parrers had some good early pressure. Looked confident.
- Jouri used some slick head movement to avoid some of those early shots.
- There was a moment, maybe mid-way through, where Jouri landed a solid counter. Rewound that part like crazy to see the setup. It wasn’t flashy, just effective.
- Noticed Parrers started to fade just a tiny bit later on? Or maybe Jouri just figured out the timing. Hard to tell sometimes.
- Jouri started mixing in body shots more as it went on. That definitely seemed to have an impact.
What I Took Away
Watching them go at it again really hammered home a few things for my own stuff. You see Parrers being aggressive, which is good, but then you see Jouri weathering it and finding spots. Made me think, am I just charging in sometimes? Maybe I need to be a bit more patient, pick my shots better like Jouri did later on.
And the body work from Jouri… yeah, that’s something I definitely need to remember. It’s easy to head-hunt, but going to the body changes things. Slows people down.
So yeah, spent a good chunk of time just watching, rewinding, and thinking. It’s good to see these things in action, not just drill them. Helps connect the dots. Felt like a productive session, just analyzing those two. Definitely got some ideas buzzing around now for my next practice.
