So, I saw the Hubert Hurkacz vs Marcos Giron match was on the schedule. Thought to myself, okay, cool, I’ll try and catch some of this while I’m getting some stuff done around the house.

I actually set aside a bit of time, you know, got my tablet ready. First step was just finding where to watch it. Seemed simple enough. Well, that turned into a bit of a runaround. Checked one place, needed a subscription I don’t have. Checked another, it was all pop-ups and looked super dodgy. You know the drill.
Then I thought, okay, maybe just a live stream somewhere basic. Found one eventually, but my internet decided right then was the perfect time to be slow. Like, really slow. Picture kept freezing, then buffering… more buffering. It was pretty frustrating. You’re trying to get into the rhythm of the match, see how Hurkacz is serving, or if Giron is getting his returns in, and all you see is that spinning circle thing.
After maybe twenty minutes of fighting with it, I mostly gave up on the video. Switched over to just following a live score ticker on my phone. It’s just not the same, is it? Seeing the points update, 15-0, 15-15, whatever. It doesn’t give you the feel of the actual game, the tension.
My Process Fail
So my whole plan to watch the actual tennis kind of fell apart.
- Tried finding a good stream.
- Wasted time navigating sketchy sites.
- Battled with my own internet connection.
- Ended up just score-watching.
It really took the fun out of it. Instead of enjoying the match, I just got annoyed at the process. It reminded me of trying to listen to a ballgame on a crackly radio driving through the middle of nowhere years back. You get bits and pieces, but mostly static.
In the end, I just checked the final result later on. Kind of felt like I’d missed the whole point. Sometimes just trying to do the simple thing, like watch a tennis match, turns into its own weird little project. That was my experience with trying to follow Hurkacz vs Giron this time around. Less tennis, more tech trouble.
