Alright, decided to finally get around to looking into the Denise Gomes record today. Been meaning to do this for a bit, just kept putting it off.

So, I started by just pulling up the basic info online. You know, the usual sites that list fights, wins, losses, how they happened. Nothing fancy, just getting the raw data down first. Got my notepad out, the old paper kind, feels better sometimes than typing everything.
First Pass: Just the Numbers
I just listed out her fights chronologically. Wrote down the opponent, the result, the method (KO, sub, decision), and the round. Wanted to see if any patterns jumped out just from the list itself. You see wins, you see losses, but sometimes the ‘how’ tells a bigger story, right?
Second Pass: Watching Clips
Numbers are one thing, but watching is another. I didn’t watch full fights, didn’t have that much time today. Just jumped around some recent bouts on YouTube, specifically looking at key moments mentioned in summaries or related to the stats I just wrote down. If the record said ‘KO’, I wanted to see the sequence. If it said ‘submission’, I tried to find that exchange.
My Quick Notes
While I was watching and comparing, I jotted down a few rough thoughts:
- Seems really aggressive early on in some fights.
- Pace is usually pretty high. Makes for exciting viewing, must be tiring though.
- Noticed a couple of moments where defense looked a bit shaky, but then she’d recover or counter hard.
- The ground game is interesting – seems opportunistic from what I saw.
Connecting it Back
After watching the clips, I went back to my written list. Added little notes next to the fights based on what I saw. Like, ‘Caught early’ or ‘Dominated striking’ or ‘Good scramble here’. Just my own shorthand, really. Helps me remember the feel of the fight, not just the result.

It wasn’t super deep analysis, more like getting familiar. Needed a break from some other stuff I was working on, and this felt like a good way to shift gears. Spent maybe an hour, hour and a half on it? Time flies when you actually get into something.
So yeah, that’s my little session looking at the Denise Gomes record. Just my own process, getting the info down and adding a bit of visual context. Nothing groundbreaking, but helps me form my own picture of things.
