Alright, so I hopped into an ARAM game earlier today, just looking to chill a bit. The reroll gods weren’t kind, or maybe they were, depending on how you look at it. Landed on Fiddlesticks. Haven’t played him in a hot minute, especially not on the Howling Abyss.
First thought? Uh oh. He feels kinda flimsy, you know? Easy to get poked out before you can do anything. I took Dark Harvest, ’cause why not? It’s ARAM, gotta stack those souls. Grabbed Ghost and Flash, figured I needed all the mobility I could get for those ults later on.
Early game was pretty much what I expected. Got shoved under tower hard. Their team had a Xerath and a Jinx, felt like I was dodging skillshots non-stop. Tried to land a few Fears with my Q, maybe silence them with E, but mostly I was just trying not to die. Fed a couple of early kills, not gonna lie. Teammates were probably wondering if I even had my keyboard plugged in.
Things started looking up once I hit level 6. That ultimate, Crowstorm, that’s the whole reason you play Fiddlesticks, right? I started lurking in the bushes more. Found a good spot near the middle, waited for them to push up. Took a deep breath, hit R, flashed into the middle of them. Chaos. Birds everywhere. Managed to snag a double kill, scared the rest off. Felt like I was finally contributing something other than feeding.
Started building some items. Went for Liandry’s first, for that burn damage over time. Seemed like a good fit for ARAM fights that drag on. Then rushed a Zhonya’s Hourglass. Absolutely essential on Fiddle, especially when you dive into five enemies. That golden statue moment saved my bacon more times than I can count. Pop the ult, go golden, watch the health bars melt.
Mid-game was a back-and-forth mess. We’d win a fight because I landed a huge ult from the fog of war (or a bush), then they’d ace us when my ult was down or I got caught out. It’s tricky finding the right spot and time on that narrow bridge. Sometimes I’d channel my ult, thinking I was hidden, only for some random skillshot to reveal me. Super frustrating.
Late game was pure chaos. Everyone had items, damage was flying everywhere. Fights were decided in seconds. My job was basically suicide bombing with Crowstorm and hoping my team could clean up. Landed a massive five-man fear + ult combo near their inhibitor. We wiped them clean off that one. It felt amazing. That moment almost turned the whole game around.
Did we win? Nah, we actually lost in the end. Their Jinx got way too fed, and we couldn’t push past their wave clear after that big fight. Still, it was a pretty fun match. Playing Fiddlesticks in ARAM is a total gamble, depends heavily on your team and the enemy comp, and how good you are at staying hidden. But landing those big ults? Totally worth it, even in a loss. Felt good to dust off the old scarecrow.
