Kicking Off the Weekend Right
Alright, so it was Packers Sunday. You know how it is – prepping for the game, maybe getting some snacks ready. But the weather was actually pretty decent, felt like a waste to just sit inside all day before kickoff.

I’d been wanting to hit a few golf balls, just get out to the range or maybe walk a quick nine holes. But man, the thought of dragging my whole big golf bag out… it just felt like too much effort for a casual session. That thing is heavy, loaded up with all 14 clubs, balls, rain gear I never use, the whole nine yards.
Cutting Down the Clutter
So I got this idea. Why not just take the bare minimum? I stood there looking at my clubs. What do I really need for a quick practice or a super casual round?
- Definitely the putter.
- A wedge, probably my pitching wedge or sand wedge for around the greens.
- One mid-iron… I grabbed my trusty 7-iron. Good for the range, good for most fairway shots if I’m just messing around.
- Maybe a driver? Nah, decided against it. Keep it simple. Just the three clubs seemed right. Putter, wedge, 7-iron.
Finding a Simpler Carry
Okay, three clubs. Now what? Just carry them loose? That seemed awkward. I remembered seeing those really small, lightweight “Sunday bags”. Basically just a tube with a strap. I didn’t have one, but I figured I could find something cheap.
Went out and picked one up. Nothing fancy, just a basic canvas thing. Cost next to nothing. Threw the three clubs in there, tossed in maybe 5 or 6 balls, a couple of tees. That was it.
The Packers Sunday Golf Experience
Headed out to the local course. It felt amazing just slinging that tiny bag over my shoulder. Seriously lightweight. Walked nine holes. It was so much less hassle. No rummaging through a giant bag looking for the right club – because there were only three choices!
It actually made me focus more, I think. Had to get creative with the 7-iron sometimes, but it was fun. Less thinking about gear, more about just hitting the ball and enjoying the walk. Finished up way before the Packers game started.
Got back home, set the tiny bag in the corner, and settled in for the game. Felt like I’d made the most of the day. The minimalist golf bag thing? Total win for a casual Packers Sunday outing. Less gear, less fuss, still got my golf fix. Definitely going to be doing that more often for quick range trips or short rounds.
