My Little Adventure Trying to Buy from Cheyanne
So, I was trying to get my hands on this specific kind of vintage lamp base. You know the type, the ceramic ones that look sort of kitschy but cool? Spent ages searching online, everywhere was either sold out or ridiculously priced. Finally, found one on a sort of obscure marketplace site, listed by someone called Cheyanne.
Getting in touch wasn’t straightforward. Had to use the site’s clunky messaging system. Sent a message asking if it was still available and about the condition. Took Cheyanne like, two full days to get back to me. Just a simple “Yes it is.” Okay then. Not much chat.
I asked for more pictures, especially of the wiring because, you know, vintage electrics can be sketchy. Another long wait. This time, maybe a day and a half. She sent two photos, kind of blurry, didn’t really show the wiring plug properly. I was getting a bit impatient by this point. Had other things going on, dealing with a plumbing leak at home, the last thing I needed was a difficult purchase.
But I really wanted that lamp base. It matched a shade I already had perfectly. So, I decided to just go for it. Asked about shipping costs. Cheyanne came back with a figure that seemed kinda high. I questioned it, very politely, just asking for a breakdown. She just replied, “That’s the cost.”
Alright, fine. Deep breath. I agreed to buy it. The payment process was through the site, which felt secure enough, so I paid. She confirmed she got the payment. Then silence.
- Day 1: Nothing.
- Day 2: Nothing.
- Day 3: I sent a message asking if it had shipped.
Waited another whole day. Finally, a reply: “Shipped yesterday.” No tracking number initially. I had to ask for that specifically. She did provide it eventually, thankfully.
The Waiting Game and Arrival
Then came the wait for the package. The tracking was weird, it bounced around a couple of states before heading my way. Took over a week. Honestly, I was half expecting a box of rocks or something completely different by the time it arrived. My wife kept asking, “Did your mysterious lamp base from Cheyanne arrive yet?” like it was some sort of legendary artifact.
When the box finally landed on my doorstep, it looked a bit beat up. I opened it carefully. Inside, buried in way too much bubble wrap (like, an excessive amount), was the lamp base. And guess what? It was exactly as described, maybe even a bit nicer than the blurry photos showed. The wiring looked okay too, though I still got my electrician buddy to check it over later just to be safe.
So, in the end, I got what I wanted. The lamp looks great now with the shade. But man, the whole process was kinda draining. Dealing with Cheyanne was like pulling teeth – slow responses, minimal information, vague shipping. It wasn’t smooth at all. Glad I got the lamp, but I don’t think I’ll be rushing back to buy from that particular seller again. Sometimes the hassle just isn’t worth it, even for the perfect item.
