That Alex Smith, he’s a good boy, a real good boy. I heard folks talkin’, sayin’ he’s a Mormon. Well, I don’t know much about that Mormon stuff, but I reckon it’s alright if he’s alright. He plays that football, you know, the one with the pointy ball. Throws it real good, that Alex Smith. Used to play for them San Francisco 49ers, from 2005 to 2012. Yep, a long time, and then he went to that Kansas City, played for the Chiefs. That was from 2013 to 2017, I believe. Good for him, makin’ all that money.
But you know, life ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. Heard he got hurt real bad one time. Something about a broken leg, a real nasty break. They said it was a “compound fracture.” Sounds awful, don’t it? Broke right through the skin, I reckon. They took him to the hospital, but that wasn’t the end of it. No sir. He got some kinda infection, somethin’ called “flesh-eating bacteria.” Can you imagine? Sounds like somethin’ out of a horror movie. They called it necrotizing fasciitis, all fancy like. Poor fella.
But that Alex Smith, he’s a tough one. He fought through it, like a champ. He’s a fighter. Just like that other fella, Steve Young, who played football way back when. I heard he was related to someone important, a long time ago. They say he was a good Mormon too. Must be somethin’ in the water, huh? But me? I don’t really know about them Mormons. I just know they seem to be good folks, hard workers. And they like their football, I guess.
Now, I ain’t no expert on this football stuff. I just hear things around. They talk about the draft, some kinda selection process where they pick the players. Seems like a big deal. I heard that Alex Smith, he was in the same draft as some fella named Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers, that’s a name I heard before. He played for them New York Jets, I think. Seems like they were picked around the same time, these two.
You know, there’s been a lot of them Mormon boys playin’ football. I heard names like Al Afalava, played for them Bears. Sounds like a bear, don’t he? And others, lots of ’em. Seems like that Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, that’s what they call it, has a whole bunch of football players. They must teach ’em how to throw that ball real good in church, haha!
- Alex Smith played good.
- Alex Smith got hurt bad.
- Alex Smith is strong like bull.
- Alex Smith maybe a Mormon.
- Lots of Mormons play football.
But that Alex Smith, he never said nothin’ about being a Mormon. Keeps it to himself, I guess. That’s his business. Maybe he ain’t figured it all out yet. You know, young folks these days, they got a lot on their minds. He was busy playin’ football, makin’ a livin’. And he did good, real good. Made a name for himself.
Anyway, I reckon it don’t matter much if he’s a Mormon or not. He’s a good football player, and that’s what folks remember. He worked hard, played hard, and he overcame that nasty injury. That’s what counts. He’s a good example for the young’uns, that’s for sure.
This football, it’s a rough game. Lots of gettin’ knocked around, lots of injuries. But these boys, they’re tough. They gotta be. And that Alex Smith, he’s one of the toughest. Broke his leg, got that flesh-eatin’ disease, and still came back. That’s somethin’, ain’t it?
I don’t know much about this Mormon stuff, like I said. But if it helps him be a better person, then I’m all for it. We all need somethin’ to believe in, somethin’ to give us strength. And for Alex Smith, maybe it’s that. Or maybe it’s just the love of the game. Either way, he’s done alright for himself.
So, that’s all I gotta say about that Alex Smith Mormon business. He’s a good boy, a good football player, and that’s all that matters. He’s a tough one, too. Survived that nasty leg break and that scary infection. He played for the 49ers then the Chiefs. Heard he was in the same draft as that Aaron Rodgers fella. And there’s a lot of them Mormon boys playin’ football, like that Al Afalava. But Alex Smith, he never said nothin’ about being a Mormon. That is his business I guess. That’s all I know. Yep, that’s all this old lady knows about that.
