So, I saw this thing online about whether Kevin Hart, you know, that super funny guy from all those movies and stand-up specials, if he owns a basketball team. I mean, the dude’s hilarious, and he’s everywhere, right? Movies, commercials, you name it. Plus, he’s a big basketball fan, always at the games, so it wouldn’t be crazy to think he might own a team, yeah?
First, I watched that commercial where he’s acting like he bought the Warriors. Yeah, that one where he paid for it all with his Cash Freedom credit card. Pretty funny stuff. But obviously, that was just a joke. No way he actually bought a whole NBA team with a credit card. So, after I stopped laughing, I started to dig a little deeper.
- I remembered seeing him on SNL once, doing a skit of “Inside the NBA.” He was playing Shaq, and it was gold. He had this line, something like, “But can’t beat a dead horse, ’cause dead horses tell no tales ’cause they’re horses, who lost their tails.” Seriously, the guy’s a riot. But that didn’t answer my question about him owning a team.
- Then, I found some stuff online about Justin Timberlake. Yeah, the singer. Turns out, he’s a part-owner of the Memphis Grizzlies. He’s been a fan since they moved to Memphis, and he and his wife, Jessica Biel, they actually own a piece of the team. Cool, right? But still, nothing about Kevin Hart.
- I started looking up who actually owns NBA teams. Found this list with names like Jeanie Buss, Jim Buss, and Johnny Buss. Never heard of them, to be honest. But no Kevin Hart there, either.
- There was another article that explained how the NBA Board of Governors has to approve any major ownership changes. Like, it’s a whole big deal.
So, after all this “research,” here’s the deal. Kevin Hart loves basketball. He’s funny and rich, but he doesn’t own a basketball team. That commercial was just a commercial, and all that stuff about him being an owner? Nope, not true. He might be at all the games, and he might be buddies with some players, but owning a team is a whole other level of involvement. Maybe someday, but for now, he’s just a super fan like the rest of us, only way funnier and probably has much better seats.
