Okay, here is my sharing about Stipe Miocic:
Man, I’ve been following MMA for a while now, and the heavyweight division is always a rollercoaster. But there’s one guy who, in my opinion, doesn’t get the respect he deserves, and that’s Stipe Miocic. I started to dig into this whole “underrated” thing with Stipe.
So, I went back to that night in 2021, UFC 260. That’s when Ngannou knocked out Stipe and took the belt. I rewatched that fight so many times, trying to figure out what went wrong. Ngannou’s power is just insane, you know? But even then, Stipe had his moments. After losing the belt, his tenure lasted like, 659 days or something like that. It wasn’t a short time.
Then I started looking at Stipe’s whole career. The guy’s a firefighter in Cleveland when he’s not fighting. How cool is that? It reminded me that these fighters are just regular people, and it made me appreciate what they do even more.
The Curse Breaker
I stumbled upon this idea that Stipe was “the guy who finally broke whatever curse was on this belt.” It got me thinking. Before Stipe, the heavyweight belt was all over the place. Nobody could hold onto it for long. But this dude, he defended it multiple times. That’s gotta mean something, right?
And his resume? I started listing all the big names he’s fought. Current stars, past champions, you name it. It’s a freaking long list. I made a little table in my notebook, just to keep track. This got me even more convinced that Stipe’s a big deal. I mean just after graduating from college, he started his journey to become a fighter. Not many people will do that.
The Skills
- Boxing: Then I watched some of his older fights. I’m no expert, but his boxing looked really good. Fast hands, combinations, the whole deal. It looked so smooth and easy, like he’s just dancing in there.
- Footwork: And his feet, man. He moves around so well, in and out, side to side. I tried to mimic some of his moves in my living room. Let’s just say, it’s harder than it looks. I was really clumsy.
I even read somewhere that he’s retired after his fight with Jon Jones. That’s crazy! He ended a remarkable career. If that’s true, the heavyweight division won’t be the same without him.
So yeah, that’s my deep dive into why I think Stipe Miocic is underrated. He’s got the resume, the skills, and the record to prove he’s one of the best. But for some reason, people don’t talk about him as much as they should. Maybe it’s because he’s not flashy or controversial. But for me, he’s a legend, no doubt.
Anyway, I just wanted to share my thoughts. It’s been bugging me for a while, and I needed to get it out there. Maybe now, a few more people will appreciate what Stipe Miocic brought to the sport. He deserves it.
