Okay, here’s my post about setting up a 12-man fantasy roster:
So, I wanted to get a fantasy football league going with my buddies. We’ve got 12 guys, so it’s a decent-sized league. The big question was, how do we set up the rosters? After looking around and seeing what other people do, I decided to go with a pretty standard format.
First off, we gotta have a quarterback. That’s the guy throwing the ball, so he’s pretty important. Then, we needed some guys to catch those passes. I went with two wide receivers. These are the speedsters who make the big plays downfield.
Next up, we need some guys who can run the ball. I decided on two running backs. These are the powerhouses who can break tackles and get those tough yards. And because we’ve got a bigger league, we also added a flex position. This can be another running back, wide receiver, or even a tight end. It just gives us some more flexibility when drafting.
Speaking of tight ends, we needed one of those. They’re kind of like a hybrid between a wide receiver and an offensive lineman. They can catch passes, but they also help with blocking.
Of course, we also need a defense/special teams unit. They’re the ones who try to stop the other team from scoring. And finally, we need a kicker.
Now, we gotta figure out how many bench spots we want. This is where we keep the players who aren’t starting. I was thinking somewhere between five or six bench spots makes sense for a 12-team league. It gives us some room to stash some extra players in case of injuries or bye weeks.
- QB: 1
- WR: 2
- RB: 2
- TE: 1
- FLEX: 1
- DEF/ST: 1
- K: 1
- Bench: 5 or 6
So, that’s pretty much the plan. It’s a basic setup that lets you have 2 RBs and 2 WRs. We’ll see how it goes, but I think it’s a good starting point for our league. It’s all about having fun and maybe winning some bragging rights!
