Okay, so I was digging into this thing about the 2023 Masters, you know, the golf tournament? I wanted to figure out just how many pars were made during those four days. It’s a simple question, but it got me curious.
First, I started by hitting up the usual spots, you know, Google and some golf news sites. I found some mentions of the total, but not a clear, straightforward number. One source said it was “a staggering amount” but didn’t give an exact figure, which was a bummer. Another site mentioned Jon Rahm shooting a 69 in the final round, which is cool, but didn’t help with my pars total question.
Then I found something interesting. It said that the total pars at Masters in 2023 was 3029. But, I wanted to see how I could have done it myself.
I realized I needed to get my hands dirty with the data. So I hunted down the official Masters site. They have all the scores from each round, for every player. Perfect! It was a bit of a grind, but I started pulling the scores for each round. I made a simple spreadsheet to keep track.
Here’s what I did:
- Round 1: I went through each player’s scorecard and counted the number of pars they had in the first round. I put that number in my spreadsheet.
- Round 2: Same deal. I looked at every player who made the cut and counted their pars from the second round. Into the spreadsheet, it went.
- Rounds 3 and 4: I repeated the process for the third and fourth rounds, adding those numbers to my spreadsheet.
After I had all the pars counted for each round, I simply added them up. It took some time, lots of scrolling and clicking, but I finally got a number.
It was not too bad to figure out the number of total pars! Just needed some patience and careful counting.
