Hey folks, it’s your boy back at it again with another deep dive. Today’s topic? We’re gonna get into who the heck is Tom Izzo and how old he is. I was just scrolling through some sports news, you know, as one does, and this name kept popping up: Tom Izzo. Now, I’m no basketball fanatic, but I do like to stay in the know.
So, the first thing I did was hit up that trusty search bar. Typed in “Tom Izzo,” and boom, a whole bunch of stuff came up about him being a big-shot basketball coach at Michigan State University. Alright, cool, he’s a coach. But that didn’t tell me much about his age.
I kept digging, reading through a couple of articles, and it turns out this guy’s been around the block a few times. Born on January 30, 1955, which, if you do the math, makes him 69 years old as of 2024. Damn, that’s almost 70!
The Journey
- Started my search: Just a simple search.
- Found the basics: Figured out he’s a coach for Michigan State.
- Dug deeper: Scrolled through various articles.
- Did the math: Realized he is 69.
It’s wild to think about, right? This guy has dedicated so much of his life to the game. Apparently, he has been with the Spartans for the last 42 years, which is like, more than half his life! He spent 12 years as an assistant coach before taking over as the head honcho.
This Tom Izzo guy, he’s been leading Michigan State to all these fancy tournaments, like the Sweet 16, Elite Eight, and even the Final Four multiple times. He was elected to the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 2016. And get this, he’s even got a National Championship win under his belt from back in 2000. I mean, that’s some serious street cred right there.
Oh, and here’s a little fun fact I stumbled upon: the dude’s married! His wife’s name is Lupe Marinez Izzo, and they’ve been hitched since ’92. And you won’t believe this; he’s also into football and grew up with Steve Mariucci, who coached the 49ers and the Lions. Small world, huh?
So, there you have it. Tom Izzo, a 69-year-old basketball coaching legend, still going strong. It’s pretty inspiring to see someone so dedicated to their craft, isn’t it? That’s all for today’s adventure, folks. Stay curious and keep on learning!
